PGA National overview

PGA National sits entirely inside the City of Palm Beach Gardens, confirmed three independent ways: county GIS, the Census Bureau’s incorporated-places layer, and the county parcel roll’s own municipality field, which returns Palm Beach Gardens on 3,724 parcels with no contrary value anywhere. The community is in ZIP code 33418.

Three separate organisations operate here and they are routinely conflated. The PGA Property Owners Association, Inc. is the community’s governing body — a Florida non-profit which its own rules describe as the property association for the entire development known as PGA National, run day to day by a management company reporting to a nine-member board of governors. The PGA National Resort is a commercial hotel operation and part of the Salamander Collection. The PGA National Members Club is the private club; it shares an address, a website look and a corporate footer with the resort, which is as far as the published evidence goes — we do not assert a legal relationship between them beyond that.

The community is also a numbered unit of the Northern Palm Beach County Improvement District, listed on the district’s roster as Unit 11. NPBCID is an independent special district created by the Florida legislature in 1959, and its assessments are non-ad-valorem, arriving on the county property tax bill rather than through the property owners association.

One correction worth making at the outset, because the name invites the assumption: PGA National is not the headquarters of the PGA of America. The PGA of America’s own contact page gives its headquarters as 1916 PGA Parkway, Frisco, Texas, and its “Home of the PGA of America” building there opened in August 2022. The association was headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens historically — but at the site now known as BallenIsles, not at PGA National. Note too that the PGA of America and the PGA Tour are different organisations; the tournament played here is a PGA Tour event.

Location within Palm Beach Gardens

PGA National occupies a large footprint west of Florida’s Turnpike, with PGA Boulevard running along its northern side — the property owners association’s own rules refer to the Ryder Cup Boulevard north gate at PGA Boulevard. The Bee Line Highway lies to the west.

A distinction worth getting right: the Turnpike, not I-95, is the highway at the community’s eastern edge. I-95 runs further east again, beyond Military Trail, so descriptions placing PGA National “just off I-95” are misleading. PGA Boulevard is the interchange road serving both. BallenIsles sits on the far side of the Turnpike, east of PGA National.

The community is in ZIP code 33418 — the resort, the members club and the property owners association all print that ZIP as their address, and essentially every parcel tested falls in that ZIP code tabulation area.

We publish no relationship to Northlake Boulevard, no distances and no drive times. The mapping data available did not carry Northlake Boulevard at this longitude, and no authoritative source publishes travel times from the community.

One trap for anyone searching property records: a group of parcels platted as “PGA National Golf Club Estates” sits east of the Turnpike, inside the BallenIsles block, on streets that appear nowhere in PGA National. That plat name is a legacy of the older golf club site and is not part of today’s PGA National.

Notable features

The Champion Course
Originally designed by Tom and George Fazio for tournament play and redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 2014. It hosts the PGA Tour’s Cognizant Classic and includes the Bear Trap — a three-hole Nicklaus stretch the PGA Tour identifies as holes 15 through 17.
The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches
The PGA Tour event on the Champion Course, which the resort says has been played here since 2007, with the 2027 edition — scheduled 24–28 February 2027 — marking the 21st year. It is no longer called the Honda Classic.
Five golf courses
The Champion, The Palmer, The Fazio, The Match and The Staple. The Palmer opened in 1984 as The General and was renamed after Arnold Palmer’s 2006 renovation; The Fazio opened as The Haig on 4 March 1980.
Ryder Cup and PGA Championship history
The club’s own timeline records the Champion Course hosting the 1983 Ryder Cup — a 14½ to 13½ United States win under captain Jack Nicklaus — and the 1987 PGA Championship, won by Larry Nelson. From 1982 the course hosted the first of 19 consecutive Senior PGA Championships.
Sports & Racquet Club
A 33,000-square-foot facility with 16 Har-Tru tennis courts, 11 of them lit, 12 pickleball courts, pop tennis and a five-lane saltwater lap pool.
Croquet lawns
The members club describes five croquet lawns, with clinics and private lessons offered.
The Spa
A 40,000-square-foot spa which the resort states is open to the public, not only to guests and members.
NPBCID Unit 11
PGA National is listed on the Northern Palm Beach County Improvement District’s roster of units of development, so a non-ad-valorem district assessment appears on the county tax bill.

Real estate in PGA National

PGA National is unusual in scale and in structure. The property owners association describes it as a 2,340-acre community comprising almost 40 individual neighborhood associations — so an owner here belongs to a neighborhood association, to the master property owners association above it, and to NPBCID Unit 11 whose assessment arrives on the county tax bill. In some parts of the community there is a further layer: Eagleton, for instance, has its own Championship Property Owners Association governing shared roads and gatehouses, beneath which sit further associations for Eagleton Lakes, Eagleton Estates, Eagleton Cove, Monterey Pointe, Grand Cay and Eagleton Pointe, the last of which covers The Masters, Diamond Head, Augusta Pointe, Pinehurst and General Pointe.

The association publishes its own list of communities, which includes The Barclay Club, Bristol Club, Burwick, Canterbury, Club Cottages, Coventry, Cypress Point, Dunbar Woods, Fairway Villas, Glengary, Glenwood, the Golf Villas, Heather Run, Ironwood, The Lakes of PGA National, Legends, Lexington Green, Marlwood Estates, Marlwood Townhomes, Meadowbrook, Patio Homes, Preston Court, Preston Estate Homes, Prestwick Chase, The Resort Villas, Ryder Cup Villas, The Island, Thurston Estates, the Villas of Burwick and Thurston, Villa D’Este, the Villas of Glengary and Windermere, alongside the Eagleton and Championship communities above.

The housing stock is more varied than a golf community’s reputation suggests. The county property roll returns a mix weighted toward single-family homes, with a very substantial townhome component and a significant number of condominiums — roughly 1,785 single-family, 947 townhouse and 416 condominium parcels in the community’s main body. Those are parcel counts rather than home counts, so we use them only to describe what types of housing exist. The property owners association publishes no total home count, and we do not estimate one.

Common property, area street lighting, drainage facilities and roadways are maintained by the property owners association under its published rules, which also cover security arrangements and assessment collection. An architectural review committee oversees exterior changes, so plan exterior work around that process. The association names three parks for residents — Burwick Park and Marlwood Park with playground equipment, and Masters Park with a jogging trail and gardens — and its rules prohibit privately owned boats on the community’s lakes and waterways.

On cost, no figure of any kind is published. Neither the resort nor the members club publishes an initiation fee, deposit, equity contribution, dues or minimum for any membership category, and the association publishes no assessment figure. Nor is it stated anywhere we could find whether club membership is required of homeowners — the members club says only that memberships are available to residents and non-residents, so we do not assert it either way. That is a question to answer in writing for the specific property.

On price, nothing publishable exists. No median or average sale price, price per square foot, days on market or inventory figure exists for PGA National or ZIP 33418 from any authoritative source, and the county tax roll carries no PGA National line and no NPBCID line. The only dated figure available is city-wide: Palm Beach Gardens had a final 2025 taxable value of $21,746,938,681 on the roll dated 8 October 2025, and a 2026 estimate dated 1 June 2026 of $23,495,963,391 including net new value. That is a municipal tax base, not a price, and it is not PGA National. Christian works from verifiable comparables for the specific neighborhood and product type.

Property styles you'll find here

Single-family homes

The largest category on the county property roll by a wide margin, spread across the community’s many neighborhood associations.

Townhomes

A substantial component here — nearly a thousand townhouse parcels on the county roll, in neighborhoods including Marlwood Townhomes.

Condominiums

Several hundred condominium parcels, in communities including the Golf Villas, the Resort Villas and The Lakes of PGA National.

Villas and patio homes

The association’s own community list names Fairway Villas, Ryder Cup Villas, Villa D’Este, the Villas of Glengary, the Villas of Burwick and Thurston, and a Patio Homes association.

Estate homes

The association names Preston Estate Homes, Marlwood Estates, Thurston Estates and Eagleton Estates among its constituent communities.

Ownership considerations

Work out which associations apply to a specific address. Most owners sit inside a neighborhood association and the master property owners association; in parts of the community such as Eagleton there is an intermediate association as well. Request the budgets and assessments for each by name.

Check the Northern Palm Beach County Improvement District line on the tax bill separately. PGA National is Unit 11, and that assessment is non-ad-valorem and does not come through the property owners association.

Ask the club directly whether membership is required for homeowners, and what it costs. Neither the resort nor the members club publishes a figure for any of its membership categories, and no source states whether membership is mandatory here — unlike at BallenIsles, where the club states plainly that it is.

Exterior changes go through the association’s architectural review committee. Budget time for that on any renovation with an exterior component.

The association’s published rules were undated in the copy available and refer to entity names that have since changed, so treat operational detail in them as needing confirmation with the association rather than as current fact.

Lifestyle in PGA National

Golf is the organising principle, but the resort side means the community carries a spa, restaurants and a hotel that a purely residential community would not. Note that the resort and the members club present some of the same facilities differently, and access rules are not consistently stated across their sites — confirm what a given membership or residency actually includes rather than relying on either site.

Golf

  • The Champion Course A Tom and George Fazio design redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 2014, home to the Bear Trap and to the Cognizant Classic. The resort publishes tee yardages from about 5,061 to 7,081; the PGA Tour sets it up differently for the tournament.
  • The Palmer Opened in 1984 as The General and renamed after Arnold Palmer’s 2006 renovation. Par 72.
  • The Fazio Opened as The Haig on 4 March 1980, a tribute to Walter Hagen, and later renovated under Tom Fazio II with the original par-72 routing kept intact.
  • The Match Built from the former Squire course and reimagined by Andy Staples for match play, new for 2021. Par 54.
Show 2 more
  • The Staple A seven-hole short course by Andy Staples in a figure-eight configuration, with holes ranging from 60 to 130 yards. Par 21.
  • The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches The PGA Tour event on the Champion Course, scheduled 24–28 February 2027. Recent winners named by the resort include Nico Echavarria, Joe Highsmith, Austin Eckroat and Chris Kirk.

Racquets & recreation

  • Sports & Racquet Club 33,000 square feet, with 16 Har-Tru tennis courts — 11 lit — 12 pickleball courts, pop tennis and a five-lane saltwater lap pool.
  • Croquet The members club describes five croquet lawns, with clinics and private lessons and an annual member-guest event.
  • Fitness The resort names two aerobics studios, two functional training studios and a spin room; the members club advertises around 50 aerobic classes a week and an indoor racquetball and handball court.

Resort & dining

  • The Spa at PGA National Resort A 40,000-square-foot facility which the resort states is open to the public. Hours as published in July 2026 run 9:30am to 4pm Sunday to Thursday and to 5pm Friday and Saturday.
  • Dining The resort names The Butcher’s Club, Honeybelle, Sushi by Boū and Birdie’s Diner, along with the Lobby Bar, The MKT, a pool bar and Sugarplume. Rosters change — confirm before planning around them.
  • PGA National Resort A hotel operation in the Salamander Collection, with guestrooms, suites, cottages and vacation homes at 400 Avenue of the Champions.
  • Banyan Buddies The resort’s children’s programming, running Friday to Sunday with evening sessions on Friday and Saturday.

Community

  • PGA Property Owners Association 7100 Fairway Drive. The master association for the whole community, governed by a nine-member board of governors, responsible for common property, area street lighting, drainage, roadways and security arrangements.
  • Championship Property Owners Association An intermediate association within Eagleton, governing its two main roads and gatehouses, beneath which sit the Eagleton neighborhood associations.
  • Northern Palm Beach County Improvement District An independent special district created in 1959. PGA National is listed as Unit 11 on its roster of units of development.
  • Gates The association’s rules describe 24-hour gate houses at Ryder Cup Boulevard south and north, Tournament Boulevard and Avenue of the Masters, with the Avenue of the Champions booth serving as the main information point.

PGA National questions, answered

Is PGA National the headquarters of the PGA of America?
No. The PGA of America’s own contact page gives its headquarters as 1916 PGA Parkway, Frisco, Texas, and its “Home of the PGA of America” building there opened in August 2022. The association was headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens historically — but at the property now known as BallenIsles, east of Florida’s Turnpike, which was itself named PGA National Golf Club at the time. Today’s PGA National is a different community. It is also worth knowing that the PGA of America and the PGA Tour are separate organisations: the tournament played at PGA National is a PGA Tour event, not a PGA of America one.
What tournament is played at PGA National?
The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, a PGA Tour event on the Champion Course. It is no longer called the Honda Classic — that name belongs to the event’s past, and some pages on the club’s own site are stale on this point. The resort states the tournament has been played here since 2007, with the 2027 edition scheduled for 24–28 February 2027 marking the 21st year on the Champion Course. Recent winners the resort names include Nico Echavarria, Joe Highsmith, Austin Eckroat, Chris Kirk, Sepp Straka and Matt Jones. The course’s best-known feature is the Bear Trap, a three-hole stretch designed by Jack Nicklaus; the PGA Tour identifies it as holes 15 through 17, though the resort’s own pages do not number them.
How many golf courses are at PGA National?
Five, according to the resort’s own course pages: The Champion, The Palmer, The Fazio, The Match and The Staple. The Champion was originally designed by Tom and George Fazio and redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 2014. The Palmer opened in 1984 as The General and was renamed after Arnold Palmer’s total renovation in 2006. The Fazio opened as The Haig on 4 March 1980 — a tribute to Walter Hagen — and was later renovated under Tom Fazio II, keeping its original par-72 routing. The Match and The Staple were both created from the former Squire course by Andy Staples and opened as part of a property-wide reimagination completed in 2021; The Match is a par 54 designed for match play, and The Staple is a seven-hole short course at par 21. Some pages on the members club’s site give different course and hole counts; the resort’s individual course pages are the ones we follow.
Is club membership required if you own a home in PGA National?
We cannot tell you, and we would rather say so than guess. Nothing on the resort’s or the members club’s published pages states whether membership is required of homeowners — the members club says only that memberships are available to residents and non-residents of the PGA National community, which does not settle the question. This is a real difference from BallenIsles, where the club states plainly that membership is mandatory and that homeownership is required to join. On cost, neither the resort nor the members club publishes any figure for any category — no initiation, deposit, equity contribution, dues or minimum — so every number circulating online is unsourced. The membership categories named across the two sites are Golf, Junior Executive for those under 40, Resort Social, Sports and Racquets. Ask the club in writing for the requirement and the full cost before you commit.
How is PGA National governed, and what does it cost to own there?
There are at least three layers, and in some parts of the community four. The PGA Property Owners Association is the master body for the whole 2,340-acre community, governed by a nine-member board of governors and responsible for common property, area street lighting, drainage facilities, roadways, security arrangements and assessments. Beneath it sit almost 40 individual neighborhood associations. In Eagleton there is an intermediate body too — the Championship Property Owners Association — which governs shared roads and gatehouses above the individual Eagleton neighborhood associations. Separately from all of these, PGA National is Unit 11 of the Northern Palm Beach County Improvement District, whose non-ad-valorem assessment appears on the county property tax bill rather than being billed by any association. No dollar figure is published for any of these layers, or for club membership, so the only way to establish the true cost of ownership is to request each in writing for the specific address.
What kinds of homes are in PGA National?
More varied than the golf-community label suggests. The county property roll shows a mix weighted toward single-family homes, with a very substantial townhome component — nearly a thousand townhouse parcels — and several hundred condominium parcels. The property owners association’s own list of communities names villa and patio-home associations including Fairway Villas, Ryder Cup Villas, Villa D’Este, the Villas of Glengary and the Villas of Burwick and Thurston, alongside estate-home communities such as Preston Estate Homes, Marlwood Estates and Thurston Estates, and condominium associations including the Golf Villas and The Lakes of PGA National. Because each neighborhood has its own association, the rules and assessments that will actually govern a specific home are that neighborhood’s. One honest limit: the association publishes acreage and an association count but no total home count, and parcel counts are not home counts, so we publish no total.
Where exactly is PGA National?
It occupies a large footprint in the City of Palm Beach Gardens west of Florida’s Turnpike, with PGA Boulevard running along its northern side and the Bee Line Highway to the west. The community is in ZIP code 33418. One clarification worth making: the Turnpike, not I-95, is the highway at its eastern edge — I-95 runs further east again, beyond Military Trail — so descriptions placing PGA National “just off I-95” are misleading, even though PGA Boulevard serves both. BallenIsles lies on the far side of the Turnpike. We publish no relationship to Northlake Boulevard and no drive times, because neither could be verified. And a note for anyone reading property records: parcels platted as “PGA National Golf Club Estates” sit east of the Turnpike in the BallenIsles block and are not part of today’s PGA National.
What schools are near PGA National?
School District of Palm Beach County schools in the area include Timber Trace Elementary at 5200 117th Court North and Marsh Pointe Elementary at 12649 Ibiiza Drive, both in Palm Beach Gardens; Grove Park Elementary on North Military Trail; Palm Beach Gardens Elementary at 10060 Riverside Drive; Watson B. Duncan Middle at 5150 117th Court North; and two high schools, Palm Beach Gardens Community High at 4245 Holly Drive and William T. Dwyer High at 13601 North Military Trail. Independent options nearby include the Arthur I. Meyer Jewish Preparatory School, The Weiss School and Trinity Christian School. As everywhere on this site: this is not an attendance-zone list and we make no claim that any address is assigned to any of these schools — confirm that with the School District of Palm Beach County; the federal directory search behind this list is radius-capped and not exhaustive; and we publish no ratings, rankings or scores.
What do homes cost in PGA National?
We publish no figure, because none that meets our standard exists. No authoritative source publishes a median or average sale price, price per square foot, days on market or inventory figure for PGA National or for ZIP 33418. The Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s tax roll reports carry no PGA National line and no Northern Palm Beach County Improvement District line, so there is not even a district-level aggregate. Given the range here — from condominiums and townhomes to estate homes across nearly forty neighborhoods — a single community-wide number would be actively misleading. Christian works from verifiable comparables for the specific neighborhood and product type.
